Plant based buddha bowl
Why a Plant Based Buddha Bowl? There are nights when all you want is a big bowl of veggies, when your body is saying, “that’s enough meat for now, thanks”. But for some, going vegan is a lifestyle choice. For some, it’s an ethical choice. Yet for others again it’s a health choice. Whatever your reason is, this meal leaves you feeling light, complete and very, very satisfied. It’s a treasure trove in a bowl, with all those goodies waiting to be plundered. So delicious!
In some ways the name of these bowls leaves a little to be desired because it really doesn’t pay homage to the Buddha, however, I do get it. Buddhists being vegan and all. It makes sense. And the name of the dish make s you feel like your partaking in something sacred, which is also kind of true. The ingredients are so light and nourishing, it is a complete meal and one of the healthiest options you have when eating. I love that myself. That you can feel so satisfied with a meal that has nothing bad in it. And your taste buds are so loved too!
We’ve picked some gorgeous African and Middle Eastern flavours for this Plant Based Buddha Bowl. But here’s the kicker. You can substitute those flavours for any other flavours of your choice. If you want something more rustic, you can choose Tuscan flavours such as thyme, oregano and rosemary. If you want something more Creole, substitute flavours with gumbo and cajun seasoning. Love you some Asian? Use tamari, 5 spice blend and sesame oil. You get the gist. Mix it up each time you make it for some stunning variations!
You can also mix up the vegetables you use. Want other options? How about some turmeric-infused cauliflower? Or garlic baked broccoli? You could also simply steam some zucchini. And how about some shredded carrot and cucumber? Oh my! so many choices!!
Any way you serve it, a Plant Based Buddha Bowl is absolutely delicious. And don’t forget to check out the Toolbox recipe for our Tahini Sauce to serve alongside this bowl of goodness.
